This massive all-ages festival will fill the heart of Melville Civic Centre. Bring the family along to enjoy an array of arts, culture and entertainment, plus some of Perth’s finest food trucks. Try your hand at hip-hop, swing dancing and circus skills, get the ultimate novelty family picture in a historic photo booth or chill at the bar to the sounds of talented local performers and DJs.
The Civic Square Precinct will be transformed into a bustling festival village with pop up venues, roving performers, art, writers, family fun, markets, street food, live music and more.
Civic Square Library:
By day, the library will host a collective digital canvas, a strange cardboard garden, fun activities for kids and the IDEASLAB. Later, the library turns its lights down low and opens the UpLate jazz bar with Libby Hammer and Read Dating with Magnus Danger Magnus.
The Civic Square outdoor stage will feature live music, dance and the Big Book Club, with MC Famous Sharron.
Inside the Civic Centre, Jane Fraser from the Fremantle Press will host the ‘On the Couch’ series with local writers and idea makers.
The Village Green:
An outdoor site for art installations and interactive activities for kids and adults.
The Alfresco Library will feature Live Storytelling, art installations and a Pop-up Museum.
The Parlour & The Rastelli:
The Parlour and Rastelli will present a rolling program of Australia’s best acrobats, jugglers, clowns and more in two boutique circus tents. By night, The Parlour will host a live Poetry Slam by WA Poets Inc.
The Side Lot & The Back Lot:
Outdoors, the Side Lot and Back Lot will offer the very best of Perth’s food truck scene, a Pop-up Bar by Embargo, Buskers, DJs and The Curious Collective Handmade markets.
Make the short walk to Wireless Hill see the ‘Makers & Machines’ exhibition and the Vintage Radio display. Meet the amateur radio club, build a cubby in the nature play space and enjoy a coffee from a vintage caravan.
